A quiz isn't offered to someone

For someone to be offered a quiz, three things have to line up: the colleague they are talking to can run quizzes, the set is published, and the set belongs somewhere that conversation can reach. Work down the list.

1. Can the colleague run quizzes?

A colleague only runs quizzes once it has been taught Run a quiz. Until then, asking it for a quiz is just an ordinary message, and it answers it as one.

  1. Open the colleague and go to its Work tab.
  2. Choose Teach (its name), then Choose from here.
  3. Find Run a quiz and choose bring in.

If you see No colleague here can run a quiz yet when giving someone a set, this is the fix.

2. Is the set published?

Only published sets are offered. A set under waiting for a person or drafts on the Assessments page is invisible to everyone else — including the Give it to people button, which only appears on a published set.

If the colleague says there are no quizzes set up here yet, it found no published set it is allowed to offer in that conversation. Publish one, or check the next step. If the set won't publish, see a question set won't publish.

3. Does the set belong where the conversation is?

  • An organisation set can be offered in every team.
  • A team's own set can only be offered in that team's conversations — never in another team's, and never in a conversation that isn't with a team.

If someone in one team needs a set another team wrote, it has to be added at organisation level instead.

The same applies to a set offered as training: a team's own set can only be taken on by that team.

4. Have they used up today's quizzes?

If the colleague says they've done all of today's quizzes and can do another tomorrow, the person has reached the Quizzes a day limit set on the team's jobs wall. Raise it there, or set it to Unlimited.

A set you gave someone never counts towards the limit, and they can always take it.

5. Is the colleague's training up to date?

Training doesn't update itself. When a newer version of Run a quiz — or of a set you offered as training — is available, the catalogue shows update next to it rather than moving anyone across. An older version may not have everything described in these pages, such as opening a set you gave someone directly, the quizzes-a-day limit, or pictures.

Open the colleague's Work tab (or the team's Train the team), choose Choose from here, and choose update on the training.

When giving someone a set is refused

"That person has no conversation with this colleague yet." A quiz is never the thing that opens someone's first conversation. They need to have talked to the colleague before a set can be given to them.

"A due date has to be in the future." Pick a later date, or leave it empty.
